Stone Edge Team Takes FIRST Place!

The Team headed down to Orlando last weekend for a team event hosted at the Orlando Skate Park.  Team members Dalton Dern, Jordan Price, Mike Barnes, Blake (I'll take off with the team van) Carpenter, Wyatt Woodward and Kevin Sikes skated in the 100 degree heat battling their way to the top spot.  Congratulations!

Go Skate for Aly Fundraiser a Success

Aly gives the thumbs up in appreciation for all the help.  She literally just got released from the hospital in time to stop by the event and say hello.  Still needing a few weeks of recovery but at least she is at home now.  A little over $1,000 was raised on her behalf.  A special thanks to Skateboarders For Christ and everyone else who pitched in.  Click here to check out some more pics from the day.

Lots to catch up on so here is goes . . . The teams did great at WITP in Tampa.  Congratulations to Kevin Sikes for placing 2nd in the 14 & under division.  In the 15 and over it was an all star Jacksonville cast including 3rd place Nick Blanco, 5th place Mark Brown and 7th place Gio Georgallis.  All will be heading to AZ for the finals.  Click HERE to check the vid and results over at the Volcom site.

Last weeks Go Skateboarding Day came in two parts . . . the midnight event at Kona and the "Bangers for Bucks" traveling best trick event.  Clyde Singleton managed to get some video and post it to the Transworld Magazine website.  Click HERE for part one, and Click HERE for part two.  Watch and read what he had to say about the weekend.

June 26th, 2009:

Tomorrow is the Volcom Wild in the Parks contest at SPoT.  Why not at Kona this year (like the past three years)?  Well, no real reason was given.  We decided that means we don't have to work and decided to go and have some fun.  We loaded up the RV and heading to Tampa . . . probably stop at a few spots along the way.  Check back for updates and see how the team does at the infamous park.

June 25th, 2009:

The 5boro team put together a video montage of the Kona Fantasy Cup.  Click HERE to enjoy!

June 23rd, 2009:

The Kona Fantasy Cup is a wrap!  Still waiting on the videos and pics to come back to me . . . (if you are reading this please hurry!) but here is some info that will help curb your appetite.  The Element team took top honors and the $1,000 cash prize.  Kona and Graffitti Skate Zone combined forces to create a "super team" and held down second place for $700.  5Boro came in a close third and rounded out the top three spots with $300.  Full coverage will come by the end of the week but until then you can check out what BusStop Mag's blogspot had to say about it all.

June 22nd, 2009:

Zoo York State of Mind

Lots to talk about with all of the events over the past weekend.  First off there was the Friday night video premier.  Red Bull teamed up with Kona all weekend long and started things off with a big screen production of Zoo York's latest release "Zoo York State of Mind".  It looked pretty awesome taking up the backside of the vert ramp. Click here to check it out!  Everyone was stoked on the free bar-b-q and being able to skate while getting stoked on the video.  More pics and a complete video review will be posted by the end of the week.

June 19th, 2009:

Professional skateboarder and MC extraordinaire,  Clyde Singleton has confirmed hosting the Kona Fantasy Cup team challenge this Saturday night.  Clyde's satire and off the cuff humor will be sure to add some unique flavor to an already unique event.  Things start around 10pm with the finals happening at midnight . . . thus being the first event in North America to bring in this years Go Skateboarding Day.

June 17th, 2009:

The super step-up and 4 block being constructed for the Kona Fantasy Cup on Saturday night are almost complete!  There is still space available for teams to to sign up so call the park if  you are interested.  Everything will be skatable Friday night for the Zoo York video Premier and remember . . . free skating after 8pm . . . that's right . . . Kona will be open for free on this Friday night after 8pm for the premier.   See  ya'll then!

June 13th, 2009:

Only one week until National Go Skateboarding Day and Jacksonville is coming alive with tons of events.  On Sunday June 21st the second annual Bangers For Bucks event will be rolling through three skateparks across the First Coast.  Jack Russell Park in Atlantic Beach will start things off at 2pm with The Ed Austin Skatpark off Monument Rd going off around 4pm.  Then at 6pm the final stop will come to Kona with admission being FREE ALL DAY.  Over $500 in cash and prizes will be given out through the day and a free Bar-b-q at Kona around 7pm.  Check the official flyer right here.

June 11th, 2009:

Some sad news from Stone Edge.  Our long time manager Aly Bowen suffered a collapsed lung due to a genetic condition.  She has undergone surgury and will be going through a lengthy recovery after already spending the past two weeks in the hospital.  She is expected to make a 100% recovery but could use some assistance along the way.  That is where we come in.  On Sunday June 21st, Stone Edge Skatepark will be open for FREE and hosting the "Go Skate for Aly" day.  Beginners clinics, bar-b-q's, team demo's, games of s-k-a-t-e and tons more will be happening starting at Noon.  All proceeds will be donated to Aly to help with her recovery.

June 11th, 2009:

Teams are starting to line up for next weeks Go Skateboarding Day Event at Kona.  So far from the shop side of things Westside Skate Shop, New Blood, MIA, Southern Boarder and Progressive are all bringing their big guns.  The Manufacturers are starting to step up as well with Element, World Industries, 5Boro and Given all bringing teams mixed with pros and man-ams.  Its gonna be a face off between the shops and manufacturers that no one should miss.  Park will be open for skating all night long.  Special thanks to Red Bull and Asahi, Japan's #1 Beer.  Hospitality tents representing both will be open all night as well.

June 5th, 2009:

Head on over to Mesh Skatepark tomorrow (Saturday) for a pretty cool mini-ramp contest.  Some friends down south came up with a new way to construct portable ramps and it seems to be working out really good.  Get to Longwood, FL (location of Mesh Skatepark) and see for yourself.  They call it the "Goat Ramp" . . . not sure where they got the name from but from what I hear it skates really well.  For pics of the Goat Ramp click HERE.  For more info on the contest give them a call at (407) 657- 2002 or just go to the Mesh Website.

 June 3rd, 2009:
