Last year Red Bull set forth a new discipline in skateboarding with its Manny Mania series that stretched across this entire USA. This year they expanded their series to include an amateur factor. On Saturday, May 10th Manny Mania will descend upon downtown Jacksonville's Friendship Park with a list of top pros making guest appearances and hosting a regional event covering the entire state of Florida. To determine who will be skating in said event, smaller local events are being held . . . like the one here at Kona. Four skaters won their way into the Jacksonville regional event . . . but not without some blood, sweat and tears to make it all worth while. Here are a few pics to tell the story. Enjoy! |
His parents owned a 70's skatepark, my parents owned a 70's skatepark . . . He wore aviator sunglasses, I wore aviator sunglasses . . . is somethng weird here? Either way its cool to have Cullen Traverso in the mix.
Me and my girls hard at work.
The judges . . . need I say more?
In between heats Matt Fink thought it would be fun to frontside flip the entire box . . . would anyone else think this to be fun?
If Ryan said it once, he said it a thousand times, "I'm glad I'm not a judge". Needless to say his expression pretty much says it all.
After it was all said and done, Fink wins! He and Ryan bro down after a long day. Some random bands happened to be on tour and stopped by the skatepark for a session. They saw the crowd and wanted to play . . . Stoked! Hit The Switch out of California played before the finals and Smartbomb from Boston, MA started things off between qualifiers and Semi Finals. They were good and played later that night at "The Pit". Ya'll can come back anytime.
