Our hours for New Years Eve are 10am - 4pm, and our our for New Years Day will be 12pm - 6pm. So be sure to come out and get your new year skate on!

Just so you know, Kona will be open Christmas Eve from 10am-4pm. So if you have any last minute shopping to get done, we are here for your needs!

So the holiday break is already here, and the kids are out of school! During all holiday breaks Kona is open from 10am-10pm. This means your kids dont have to sit around all day watching T.V., doing nothing, also you can get your shopping done while your here!
Are you shopping for a beginner or intermediate skater, and dont know what to get them? What about skateboard lessons? Right now we are offering a holiday lessons program that is hard to pass up! The Program is set of 5 lessons for $100. Lessons are given on Tuesdays and Thursday at 4:30, 5:30, & 6:30. Lessons are one-on-one, and are available for any age, and any experience level. Please call if you would like to set up a lesson, or come on in.
If the skater your shopping for is not in need of lessons, and you STILL dont know what to get him... Kona has gift cards, day passes, memberships, and a whole shop of cool things to choose from. The Kona Board Shop employees are very knowledgable, and can answer just about any question you may have.

Kona Jaguars Demo:
If you are going to the Jags Vs. Colts game, be sure to come out during halftime and check out the Kona Mini Ramp Demo! Take a break from the old flippy, dancy half time stuff and come see some of the best skaters in Jacksonville ripping it up outside the stadium. You can pick up a limited Kona Demo shirt, watch some awesome skating, and then go back and enjoy the rest of the game!

Also, come join us for an all ages pool contest to kick off the new year. gathering at the historic Kona Skatepark's Kidney Pool, skateboarding talent of all ages will put on a spectacle of modern roundwall shredding! The contest will be divided into the following divisions:
Groms Mens(30-36)
10-12 Masters (37-45)
13 and up Sponsored
Grand Masters (46 and up)
December 12. 2009 (UPDATE)
The new date for the pool contest is now set for January 9, 2010. This means that the Treaty Finals will be moved to a date TBA in January 2010.
Also, some modifications have been made to the layout of the contest. There will be 2 new divisions; the men's divison (ages 30-36), and masters division (ages 37 and up). Registration is still open, and the $25 preregistration fee is still in play ($30 day of).
The contest at Stone Edge next weekend is still on and registration is open. Sign up at Kona, Stone Edge, or send in your registration via mail.

Unfortunatly due to the rain today the Pool Contest has been postponed. The rescheduled date will be posted right here on the website no later then 2 o' clock today.

Be sure to check out the clips of Kona in the new Nike SB Video trailer "Don't Fear the Sweeper", set to be released January 2010. Lance Mountain and the whole Nike SB team made it around to Kona about a mounth ago and kept us all on our feet as they shred the park to pieces. This video will be something you don't want to miss!

This Saturday is the last Park Series Stop of the KSS, be sure to come and check it out!
In other news, we stumbled along this pretty awesome website called Skate Cab. It features pictures, videos, zines, and other cool stuff through the history of skatboarding from the 70's to present day. Check out this picture of young Buck Smith, a local pro, doing a backside air on the concrete half taken from Skate Cab.

Saturday, December 12, 2009 will be the last Park Stop in the Kona Skateboarding Series before the Finals at Treaty Skatepark! The individual stop results can be found under the Events section of the Navigation Bar or to view the overall results for the Park Series Click Here.
The last stop for the Street Series section will be Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Stone Edge. The overall results this far can be found here.
In other news, a pretty cool kid named Logan came by the park today. Logan and his dad are traveling around the United States on a mission to skate in every state ( talk about a dream come true!). So we had a little break in the schedule for Thanksgiving Weekend. But we are back, and have some new and awesome news to talk about!
First of all, the 5boro Team kicked off their Southern Migration Tour this weeked here at Kona. The team showed up at about 5 o'clock, and continuously tore up the park untill closing time. Needless to say, we all had a great time, and we wish the 5boro Team a happy, and safe tour, as they find out what the South has to offer them.

Secondly, the next stop of the Kona Skatepark Series is comming up fast! This stop will be here at the Kona kidney pool on Saturday, December 12. Register today, and only pay $25.
